Data loss story:

Working at a smaller Mom and Pop computer repair shop in Phoenix at the Beginning of my IT journey. A customer brings in an eMachine to add a 2nd IDE disk drive for additional storage.

He stresses that this runs his business and he repeats multiple times "don't format the C Drive"

So I install the secondary drive open a command prompt and start formatting - except muscle memory kicks in and I type "Format C:"

I didn't realize my mistake until after confirming the warning prompt.

Needless to say after that incident, our repair shop adopted a new policy where all customers had to sign a waiver for repairs.
