cannot use GPU for pre-processing (changing FPS)

Describe the bug
getting an error when setting "use GPU" to "TRUE" when changing FPS of a video

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Batch pre-processing
2. Set "use GPU" to "TRUE"
3. try to change FPS

Expected behavior
SimBA would change FPS of the video to the output folder; using CPU works.

One question to help me figure this one out:

What is the format of the video you are trying to change the fps of? I.e., is it a mp4, avi, or some other format?

Thanks! A little more help please :) I tried it on a bunch of videos, and I can't recreate the error. Any chance you could share one of the videos with me? If I can recreate the error I should be able to insert a fix.

Got it thank you! I can recreate the error, and fix it. One trouble is.. the GPU processing isn't much faster than the CPU processing on the video for whatever reason 🙃

FFmpeg GPU codecs can be a bit of a can of worms. But maybe not too much to be worried about, as the 2025-09-08_13-06-38-AloneH-1.mp4 is converted from 30 to 15 fps in about 11-12s regardeless of GPU/CPU on my machine..

I will update the code with the fix as soon as I find some time and let you know.

Hi @sronilsson this only happens when batch pre-processing is done, not using SimBA's "Tools" menu. idk if that helps but i thought i'd let you know. thanks so much!

Remind me, which version of SimBA do you see when running pip show simba-uw-tf-dev?

Thanks @cl05e! I gave it a go on your video with the settings below, and it runs through fine for some reason...

Can you:

(i) update simba with pip install simba-uw-tf-dev --upgrade to get the latest version and try again?

(ii) Send me a screengrab of your settings (like my screengrab below) so I can try to exactly replicate the methods you have and see if I can create the error?

Yeah I just now tried it with the very same settings and I got that warning message as well, but it ran though and the video is saved as expected.

You should be good! But I will take a look where the message comes from
