FYI: There is some discussion in google/dagger#871 with updated bazel build docs.
Do you thing it would make sense to also try sending a PR with your example to integrate it into the upstream repo?

I don't have the time to do it personally, but if you feel like taking it on then it sounds like a good idea! Also bear in mind that Bazel looked a lot different back when this was written and it should probably have used external repositories rather than copy pasting jars.
