Bulk Extractor not compatiable with Java 8

Hi everyone,
I try to launch Bulk extractor but I have a Java pop up error

"Please install Java 6 or newer in order to run BEViewer "

My system:
Windows 10 64 bits (with last Microsoft update)
Java 8 update 181 64 bits
used bulk extractor windows installer (version : 5 August 2014)

Yes, it is not compatible with Java 8, apparently.

1-Run Java 7. 2-Port to Java 8. 3-Port to web app. I think 3 is the best bet, with bulk_extractor getting an embedded web server. But it could also be done with a python based web app. This would be a great undergraduate or master’s project. Or you could hire a consultant to write it. I would do it if there was sufficient demand, but I don’t see such demand at the moment.

Hate to resurrect such an old thread, but is BE still not compatible with Java 8 on Windows? I've been trying to get it going this morning and it's telling me to install Java 6. Is this just a check somewhere in it that forgot to put a > sign in the version checker?

I believe that the old bike coat will run, but I do not think it compiles. I do not know Java. Would you like to fix it? Another alternative is a new user interface using a modern programming stack.

That's not what I do unfortunately, I'm just an end user of this kind of product. I've managed to get it going in a VM with Java 6 installed, so that'll have to do.
