Default values not working

I find that default values are not working for the conditional displayer dropdown or radiobuttons. In case of the radiobuttons, the first value is selected, while in case of the dropdown, it is always "Pick One". In the browser console I see "configuration is missing a valid default value", and in the debugger, I don't see this.configDefaultValue as defined. In the database table umbracoDataType, my default values do appear to be present.

This is as far as my debugging skills go.

I'm using Umbraco 17.3.0-rc, although I don't know whether the issue occurred on previous releases.
