Transmute is a free and open-source self-hosted file converter built for privacy, flexibility, and automation.

It was created to offer a better alternative to cloud-based converter tools that require uploading files to a third party, as well as self-hosted tools that feel limited or clunky. With Transmute, conversions happen on your own hardware, with no file size limits, no watermarks, and no unnecessary friction.

Today, Transmute supports a growing range of conversions across images, video, audio, documents, spreadsheets, subtitles, fonts, and more. It is designed not just to be useful through the web UI, but also to serve as reliable infrastructure for automation through its API.
