Place 4119, Mar Sharbel (monastery): possible place name error #1263
Description
It is possible that the place name for Mar Sharbel should instead be Mar Maron. The Monastery is referred to by Mar Maron, with a church inside of the monastery.

This place derived from the Syriac World maps and index; the articles in that volume, however, only discuss the martyr acts, not the monastery on the maps.
A few proposed solutions:
- Add the name Mar Maron as the headword for place 4119, including a deprecation note on the name Mar Sharbel noting the error in The Syriac World
- Re-type place 4119 as a church; create a new record for Mar Maron (monastery), and add a contained-within link from 4119 to the monastery's record. Also would add abstracts clarifying the two places, and possibly a note indicating the confusion in The Syriac World
In both cases, ideally include additional sources that we can add to CBSS to cite for the name forms, relationships, etc.
