Operation report on Big sur:

When tracing history with the right cursor, the characters that should be white remain gray.

If I comment out ZSH_AUTOSUGGEST_HIGHLIGHT_STYLE ='fg = # 999' on the second line from the end, it will work normally.

Which terminal program are you using? The built-in Terminal does weird things depending on the chosen color scheme. For example, changing to fg=#f0f, which should be magenta, works pretty well in iTerm2, but is overridden in Terminal.

version is my terminal software version.

gray-text1 / gray-text2 is a snapshot with ZSH_AUTOSUGGEST_HIGHLIGHT_STYLE ='fg = # 999' enabled.

after-commentouted is a snapshot when commented out.

When ZSH_AUTOSUGGEST_HIGHLIGHT_STYLE ='fg = # 999' is enabled, press the up key to display the history, press the delete key or left key to move the cursor to the left, and then use the right key to move the cursor to the right, and it will be gray for a while. The state will continue.

When commented out, switching between gray text and white or highlighted text works fine.
