Information about downloads from Streamyfin

Hey!

Can you precise in the README what is the purpose of this container, because it is unclear what this program allows? Maybe just faster transcoding, or does it optimize the file for optimal playback on the android client?

Also, which quality should I choose? If I understand correctly, setting it to max will take a lot of space when downloading a remux, but is 2mb/s enough for a FHD+ display?

To clarify further, if Jellyfin is set up through a reverse proxy, does it also require Traefik to be configured for it? Or can it function solely using internal IPs?

I got it to work on Unraid using just local ip, but when I try to download something on streamyfin I dont see any difference with or without this running.
I also dont see any activity while downloading in the logs, so I too wonder how this works

I believe it requires a reverse proxy, as you have to set the download server url in streamyfin

I configured OVS server to use my reverse proxy to provide a URL since you have to enter the URL for the optimization server into the settings of the Streamyfin app.

I added this optimization server to the same docker compose as my overall jellyfin environment. For connectivity between the optimization server and the jellyfin server I was able to use the internal container network information so that the traffic between the containers does not traverse the proxy.
