Phase 12 Right Rail UX

What was wrong before

  • The right rail had useful content, but it still behaved too much like a generic sidebar stack.
  • The cards did not separate “journey”, “AI check”, “quick learning”, “activity”, and “coach support” strongly enough.
  • The support surfaces felt informative but not product-like enough.

What changed

  • Rebalanced the homepage right rail into distinct, mockup-style product cards:
    • Studio Journey
    • AI Pre-Submit Check
    • Quick Revision
    • Recent Activity
    • Next Helpful Move
    • Studio Coach Says
  • Increased card polish with:
    • softer gradients
    • rounder corners
    • stronger shadows
    • cleaner spacing
  • Improved the AI Pre-Submit Check card so it reads like a product feature, not a text box:
    • score ring
    • issue rows
    • show-me affordances
  • Kept the coach card supportive and compact rather than dominant.

Why this helps student learning

  • The right rail now acts as a low-pressure support lane.
  • Students can glance at progress, likely issues, and practice moments without leaving the main flow.
  • The page better communicates the value of bounded AI support through clear, believable UI instead of explanation-heavy text.

What remains for later polish

  • Some rail cards could use richer custom illustrations.
  • The activity feed can later become more time-aware and more personalised without changing the current structure.
