Track BG Events not functional

In any track with BG events (I tested with the Pizza Tower DLC track 'Unexpectancy'), the events themselves seem to not do anything.

With BaboonAPI uninstalled, the tracks works fine: stage lights flash, the background elements thrash about as expected
In a blank install with only BaboonAPI and its dependencies installed, nothing happens. The background elements move at their default pace and no lights flash.
