(Data) Broken links #1

Original email where this issue was reported by a user of qhsearch:

I was using the question hour database of TCPD for my PhD research and noticed an error. When the results of a search query are listed, the button does not open the link to the Parliament website's respective question and instead shows an error that the file was not found(image attached).

This is likely due to a change in the address of the Parliament website. The links that appear in the search results are in the following format:

http://164.100.47.194/Loksabha/Questions/QResult15.aspx?qref=39450&lsno=16

This link is leading to an error. However, "164.100.47.194/" is removed from the link and ".nic.in" is added after the word loksabha in the link, it leads us to the respective question listed on the Parliament website.

http://loksabha.nic.in/Questions/QResult15.aspx?qref=39450&lsno=16

Proposed solution:

  • Check if all the links begin with 164.100.* and if all of them are indeed broken now (Automated script to ping the URL? I'm not sure)
  • If all the links are indeed broken, augment column as per issue detailed above with new URL. These new URLs will also have to be checked (at least a fair sample of them)
