how to layout multiple plots?

Currently the only way to do this is via the order of ggplots in the viz list. Are there any examples where it would really be a huge benefit to use a more complicated mechanism?

http://rmarkdown.rstudio.com/flexdashboard/ has a nice plot layout that we could copy. I would not recommend copying the Rmd definition (instead we can use an option in the viz list), but at least we could copy their rendering code.
