[BUG] Platform not detected

I am running this on my DS1817+, still with DSM6.

Is there any way we can get this fixed? The platform is not detected.

@frankhommers i have not been able to compile modules for the 3.10 kernel successfully thus far. I'm sure it's possible but I haven't been able to do it so far and without a device to test them on I rely on volunteers to try compiled modules and give me feedback, which makes the cycle time weeks long.

If you can provide the output of uname -a I can try to compile for your platform but you'd have to try loading the modules manually to see if they're correct.

@frankhommers what DSM are you on? I can find no toolkit anywhere for kernel 3.10.105

I see for 3.10.108 but no .105

I have decided to go and update to DSM7. I'll report back when I can't update everything there ;-)

Still, after updating I get this now: So yeah .108 would be good :-)

Based on this version of docker, we'll need to check for / install iptables modules...

OK @frankhommers try now.

Note: I previously had issues with this specific version of the iptables modules. If this doesn't work for you, the easiest path back to working would be to uninstall and reinstall docker/containermanager from the package center.

Please capture output from the update process if it doesn't work.

If you want to JUST try the modules without running the update, you could download one of the modules from here:
https://github.com/telnetdoogie/synology-kernelmodules/tree/main/compiled_modules/3.10.108/avoton
put it somewhere on the NAS, and try adding it with sudo insmod ./<filename.ko>. If that fails, then the update will also fail.

I'd rather not reinstall. Will the insmod confirm if it will work? Or will there still be a risk?

insmod will either successfully load the module or it will throw an error. if it installs AND throws an error, you can sudo rmmod <name> for example (if it fails)

...that's a failure to load, the module doesn't match the kernel.

...that's a weird error others have seen. It probably means the module has some issues, likely in the source code. In that case it's worth running the rmmod as well (although it will probably fail too)

If it loads the module with no errors, that's the indicator than running the update will work without an issue.

it's much less impactful than trying the update script and it failing... I should really add some better error handling around that but it's not there.

Other errors might be:

Unknown symbol
module verification failed

If you try the module loading on its own and it DOES fail, if you'd be so kind to do the following IMMEDIATELY following the attempt:

sudo dmesg | tail -50

and send me the output.

FYI if you DO ever have to do a reinstall, it should preserve your containers.
