I came across your project and I think it's really educational. I'm interested in using it for a project I'm working on. I noticed there isn't a license listed in the repo. Could you let me know what the terms are for using your code?

How would it be used, exactly? I assumed you were going to put it in educational material, but maybe I misunderstood the context?

I just checked, and GNU-GPL v3 does allow for commercial use. I'm trying to find out if it requires that any project reusing parts of my code has to open source all of its code (Edit: It does). I don't care for that, I just want to keep my code open I think. I might trade use of somewhat modified code for credit and a link back to this repository, but I'll have to find out if any license allows for that or does something better IMO.

Looks like the Lesser GPL might work for both of our desires, but what do you say about this?

LGPL is definitely better than GPL-3, but if I’m going to use your code it’s not going to be a separate library. If I use your code as one of the core utils (with some modifications), then I still have to open source the entire code base. What do you think of MIT licensing? Something to note, I did not reverse engineer this word packing and unpacking system myself. The information on that is on the Code Golf StackExchange.

How about Apache 2.0?

I'm assuming that license will do, as it's pretty similar to the MIT, but with some protections against patent treachery. If it isn't, let me know.
