Imagespace modifiers (screen effects) sometimes get stuck for remote players

I am playing with a friend (he's the party/lobby host for missions) and suddenly my screens gets a red flash and becomes blurry like I'm transforming or something and then my screen becomes black and stays that way. I can still see the HUD and can open my inventory and the map is visible, but everything else is black. I can also still interact with the world: talking to NPC's, traveling, etc.
The last mission we did was the thieves guild questline till the point where you meet Karliah and get poisoned. We were at the moment it happened not doing anything related to quests. For me it happened when entering Dragonreach. I did not have an earlier save I could have gone to, so I was stuck.

After updating drivers on my PC, turning down graphics and restarting game, the only thing that helped is the 'sisme 0' command. But I need to type that in every time I start up the game. Typing 'sisme 1' gives me the black screen back. Anyone know what happened and/or what else I could do? The only mod running is the together mod and we are running on a private server (port forwarded). We played for at least 12 hours with no problems before.

This script helps fix this and works for most players, but the bug better be fixed.

There is also a similar effect when Mercer Frey stabs the player character after they have been affected by the poison dart
