Here is an idea which would be really awesome.
Make it possible to let the player set their own password. So every single account is protected much better, and its possible to run the server in offline mode. So also people can join, which didn't bought Minecraft and you dont have to fear, that they simply login with the owners name and then destroy the complete server. (and they have to type in their email adress, when they login for the first time, so they can change their password or ask for it, when they forget it)
And to make it for the people more easier to join the server: when they join the server with the same IP from which their last login was, they dont have to enter the password again. But when they login with another IP -that means with another computer- they have to type in the password again.
That would be great!
Sorry for my bad english and I hope you understand what I mean :)
