Not sure if I need to know this but when running the groups command I notice the my user belongs to two groups

When creating a new file with touch command I see that the file is under a 'default group'

why was it set but that group

Also when using 007
is it just like 777 where all users and groups have full access to a file or folder?

Look at /etc/passwd in the line describing your user - you'll find the default group next to it (i.e. field 3 is the user id and field 4 is the primary group id). That's why you only have one.

You can change a user's primary group with:
usermod -g primarygroupname username

What do you mean by 007? using it where?

In a case where we want the All group to have have full access (rwx=7) is there a reason to use 777 and not 007? I know we can use chmod 777 and then enable the Owner, Group and All but in the above case is there any reason to use 777? Or is OK to just to use 007? If I have given full use to All but non to the Owner and Group will that make any difference? I think not?
