Filters not taking effect in the first tab of a new profile window in Safari (mac)

I tried to reproduce the issue when...

• uBO Lite is the only extension.
• using a new, unmodified browser profile.

Description

Filters do not take effect in the first tab of a new profile window in Safari. uBOL behaves correctly in private window.

This only started happening since the last 2 or 3 versions AFAICR.

A specific URL where the issue occurs.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Safari is set up with two profiles: Profile A and Profile B, with Profile A as the default
2. The Safari settings "New windows open with" and "New tabs open with" are both set to "Start Page"
3. Launch Safari. Safari will open a window with Profile A by default
4. (optional) Go to the example URL. Observe that ads are blocked
5. (optional) Create a private window and go to the example URL. Observe that ads are blocked
6. Create a new window with Profile B (File -> New Profile B Window)
7. Go to the example URL. Observe that ads are not blocked
8. Create a new tab in the current window (Profile B). Observe ads are blocked

Expected behavior

Filters should take effect in the first tab of a new profile window in Safari.

Actual behavior

Filters do not take effect in the first tab of a new profile window in Safari.

Thanks @stephenhawk8054. The workaround from gorhill/uBlock@8cc18c1089 had since resolved it for me, and private windows were also affected before the workaround. Could be some new weirdness with Safari 26.2 though.

The workaround is just to mitigate the issue partially. It can't fully address the core issue which can only be resolved by Safari's team themselves. Any changes to Safari can affect the workaround.

The only way to know if it's because of Safari's update or not is having another device with older Safari's version and the same uBOL version to see if the issue is still there or not.
