Field Data is very complex and most users cannot figure out 1) that it exists and 2) how to use it. To make this usable it needs to be simplified to be truly Image Data stored so that it can be used as initial conditions. The two use cases are:
- reuse simulation results as initial conditions
- when an image is used to create a geometry, use the intensity information in that image as initial conditions for each species for which a channel exists within the image (selectable by user; note that values will require user input to scale to concentration data).
Jim had gotten quite a bit of the way through reworking VFRAP as a workflow, and VFAP does implement these use cases for field data in a streamlined way. Much of this could be reused in a complete overhaul of Field Data to create "Image Data"
