[Discussion] Configuring vit to be more "mobile" friendly?

With taskwarrior 3 out none of the android apps work anymore, so I've been looking to use termux with vit on mobile, which works well in principle, but the problem is that the viewport is obviously not ideal with how default vit works. I'm hoping maybe someone already has a great configuration for using vit on a small mobile screen in termux?

VIT maintainer here. I use this exact setup on my Galaxy S24 and it works well. I agree that the text is a little cramped, but IMO it's worth it to have the exact same experience as desktop.

I don't think it's really practical to mess with the essential layout of VIT, but you might try a few of these simple things to smooth your experience:

1. Make the font bigger: Guessing termux has settings for this?
2. Create custom 'mobile friendly' reports: A big issue with narrow layouts is that columns get cut off, so make reports with as few columns as possible.

I tend to limit my mobile use to:

1. Capturing new tasks in an inbox
2. Marking existing tasks complete

So inbox I guess you process later GTD style. Do you mind sharing the report config you use on mobile? My main issue is the column cutoff, so I'd be interested in how you managed that.

What I could imagine maybe is a long press, double click or swipe action. You can already select tasks with clicking the mouse. Not sure if that is possible or worth the effort.

I agree in general that keeping close to desktop makes sense. It's pretty damn awesome that vit works and no need leaning a different app and tooling which may or may not have feature parity (and of course vit itself is great!).

I don't even use priority in my inbox anymore, so it's really just ID, Age, Description. This works perfectly for the 'capture' phase of GTD, where all I need is to make quick, raw notes which I later handle immediately or classify to other lists.
