PHP 8.5 (released 20/11/2025) Images are currently failing to build, see - https://github.com/wardenenv/images/actions/runs/19625369051/job/56193153401

I can get the images to build locally by removing the pecl-imagick pecl-swoole packages.

Do we need to just wait for upstream packages to catch up?
Or is there a better way to install these packages? IIRC, pecl is deprecated now

@SamJUK Pecl or PIE won't make a difference, we need to wait for upstream packages to release a version compatible with PHP 8.5. I may look into seeing if there's a way to allow other builds of other major versions (8.4, 8.3, etc) to build and just fail the one.

Sounds good, thought that may be the case. I'm just being impatient 🙂

You think you're impatient, I was checking on the build status on Friday when 8.5 was released 🤣 .

With the update though, it may be worth converting to PIE instead of using the package manager's PECL version(s), but we'll see. Doing it through package manager removes the temporary build files that would have to be cleaned up during Docker build, so it's a trade-off.

With the merged PR, it the images were built and pushed without issue. Tonights run should be back to normal with no errors, and PHP 8.5 being built (just without Swoole and IonCube support).
