The example gives errors and doesn't work

I downloaded the zip, unzipped, opened it in Chrome (29.0) and got errors saying:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'style' of undefined

on line 318 and 331 of jquery.mapbox.js where it says:

x = layer[0].style.left

Updating to jQuery 1.10.2 or 2.0.3 doesn't help.
