Unzipping chromium with this tool on the mac breaks it

Downloading and running patool on this zip on the mac seems to render chromium unusable. E.g.

https://www.googleapis.com/download/storage/v1/b/chromium-browser-snapshots/o/Mac%2F768968%2Fchrome-mac.zip?generation=1589493463554900&alt=media

It will crash if run after unzipped with patool.

For some reason if it's done with unzip everything just works.

Can you provide the output of patool with the --verbose optoin?
If you run patool with the --verbose option, the exact command is displayed that patool uses.
