Question: can we implement drag-&-drop as in gridster?

I would like to have a built-in drag-and-drop behavior such as in gridster http://gridster.net/

This would be a mega cool feature for draggable layouts. I have seen the demo10 with DND, but it was not intuitive for me. I haven't understood the logic how the items are re-arranged. I would add the DND support as a built-in feature, but the vGrid should be refreshed while dragging an item, so the user can see live the result of DND (like in gridster). Is it possible at all?

What I meant here - we want to put a draggable item exactly on a place in the grid where it has been dragged to. I know, the demo10 tries to re-arrange items without gaps in the grid, but the dragged item is sometimes not dropped there what it was dragged to. Gaps are not important in this case, important is a draggable page layout. E.g. I want to drag a sidebar from links to the right side.
