Status Update — End of Session, 2026-03-24

What was accomplished today

Architecture:

• Reorganized from eyecare-only (eyecare.parentguidebook.org) to multi-domain (parentguidebook.org) — PR feat: reorganize site from eyecare-only to multi-domain parent guidebook #49
• Expanded from 4 child-only categories to 5 categories (added Parent + Family) — PR feat: expand to 5 categories, 24 domains, timeline collection (#60) #61
• 24 domains total, 6 logarithmic age stages
• Designed 2D matrix navigation (domains × age stages, DOB selector) — discussed in [DESIGN] Two-dimensional content architecture — horizontal (by-age) × vertical (by-domain) #60

Content Pipeline (built from scratch):

• Translator (Sonnet) — EN→ZH, iterated across 4 articles, 3 prompt versions, 10 naturalness rules from Sam's review
• Fact Checker (Opus) — found real critical errors in 4 published articles
• Auditor (Sonnet) — alignment + naturalness + clarity checks
• Linter (Haiku) — 8 categories of inclusive language
• Pipeline runner orchestrates all four with veto gates

Content:

• Fixed 4 articles with critical medical errors ([CONTENT FIX] white-pupil-leukocoria — orphaned citation, misleading Singapore framing, unused sources #52, [CONTENT FIX] newborn-eyes-first-year — contradicting vision statistics #53, [CONTENT FIX] school-age-eye-health — missing WHO source, unused citation #54, [CONTENT FIX] what-happens-eye-exam — amblyopia laterality backwards, atropine duration wrong #55)
• Wrote "The First Month" — first horizontal timeline article ([CONTENT] The First Month — horizontal timeline article #62)
• Inclusive language guidelines (guidelines/inclusive-language.md)

Infrastructure:

• Deployed to Cloudflare Pages with auto-deploy on merge
• Git hooks (guard-git.sh) — blocks commits/pushes to main and dead branches
• Hooks failed 4 times before working (matcher syntax was wrong) — documented in blog post

What's next (Phase 1 continues)

• Months 1-6 timeline article — next horizontal piece
• Continue filling timeline columns
• Phase 2: build the matrix UI after 2-3 articles exist

Key Design Decisions

1. Parent + family as first-class content subjects (not just the child)
2. Horizontal (by-age) articles are the primary reading experience
3. Content before containers — write first, build UI around real content
4. Every article through the full pipeline — no shortcuts
5. Fail-closed everything — hooks, pipeline checks, guardrails
6. 家长 not 父母 — inclusive family language throughout
7. Chinese translations must read as native Chinese, not translated (10 rules)
