I may actually have ended up partially breaking my phone (screen)? Maaaybe? (Motorola Edge+ 2023) #145
Description
Hey, I have no idea if this was the cause- not actually THAT likely given that I can't find anyone else with this experience, but I don't know if that's because there aren't too many reviews from Android 15 users, let alone this specific phone? There just are QUITE a few weird coincidences lol- but also sorta "anti-coincidences" too! Lemme explain:
~12hrs after last messing with this (n totally forgetting about all the warnings regarding needing to be careful after having not used it for like a year- so I was just doing "whatever" with it lol), I started randomly getting insane ghost-touches at the top of my screen, beginning minor and quickly escalating to insane by an hour later. They were directly in line with my camera (as seen with the developer options setting- a very flat horizonal line of screen-smashing going across the status bar), and my own touch is now not registering up there anymore. So I got it to factory-reset, was all excited when it seemed like it was fixed in the setup, just for it to immediately start going crazy as I entered the homescreen n initiated the restoring of the backup. I factory reset it again, this time doing a full firmware reinstall with the Lenovo PC app, and didn't restore it that time, and hey- it seems fine!
But this is where the suuuper odd parts begin, n which make me still unsure of if it truly is a hardware failure, or if there actually is some deep software/system-setting going "crazy" (or one that went crazy during those 12hrs, leading to permanent hardware and/or "deeper software" issues- is that a thing that can happen with Shizuku tweaks?? I dunno)- it quickly started to continue the "going crazy", but like 95% of the time ONLY when I went into settings, and the other 5% was on YouTube, but ZERO% at the homescreen. AND I could also then lock the screen if it began to get "crazy", and it would be totally fine riiight up until I entered my passcode n unlocked the screen, to which it'd immediately return to insanity (again, only when on settings lol- I could even quickly close settings n go back to the homescreen and have it be fine again!).
SOOO ANYWAYS, finally, the ghost-touches have nearly entirely stopped after ~6hrs- now just getting the odd drop down menu popping up very very sporadically (n by now that may have also permanently stopped), but I sadly AM still left with being incapable of pulling the drop down menu down unless I'm at the homescreen or in landscape lol. OH WAIT, actual "finally"- the whole I reason that I decided to actually go through with posting this despite it being prettyyy far-fetched is because I did end up restoring my backup a bit later, and when I went to touch on this app on the homescreen, it said something like "you don't have this installed- wanna delete the shortcut?", so I did, and BAM- the screen sorta froze n began to glitch out from the ghost-touches ON THE HOME MENU, so I quickly locked n unlocked my phone, and it was right back to normal lol. Soo yeah, soooo many oddities to it n I'd imagine PROBABLY just crazy coincidences, but I don't know?? My only last option to really be certain is to try flashing a custom ROM/firmware, I guess? (Or replace the screen, obviously lol- unless someone more knowledgeable can just 100% confirm that this is entirely impossible to be software-based??)
Thank you, Mr. "singular person to have actually read all of this"!!
(ESSAY OVER- GEEZE THAT WAS WAAAY TOO LONG IM SORRY)
