fetrust

A minimal and fast system info fetcher written in Rust with zero external dependencies.

Features

• Fast by default: No external process spawning in default mode
• Probe mode: Optional --probe flag for enhanced accuracy
• Zero dependencies: Pure Rust with custom JSON, INI, and FIGfont parsers
• Configurable: JSON config at ~/.config/fetrust/config.json
• Themed output: 8 colors + random per-line coloring
• ASCII art: Dynamic FIGlet banner based on OS

Installation

Build from source

# Build release
cargo build --release

Quick commands (with just)

just install      # Install to ~/.local/bin
just uninstall    # Remove from ~/.local/bin
just list         # List all available just recipes

Usage

# Fast mode (default - no external commands)
fetrust

# Probe mode (uses hyprctl, xrandr, lspci, gsettings for accurate info)
fetrust --probe
# or
fetrust --full

Configuration

Config file location: ~/.config/fetrust/config.json

Fast vs Probe Mode

Fast mode spawns ZERO external processes (except uname -r for kernel).
