Introduction

This is my solution to fixing Win 11 turning off the hotspot automatically, even with devices connected.

Setup

To set up, download the file, place it in a directory, and then use Task Scheduler to run it at startup (or when you prefer). Automatically hides itself. Here's the args I have defined:

-NoProfile -WindowStyle Hidden -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "[DIR]\HotspotManager.ps1"

Make sure it is also running with highest privileges or the console window will stay open, which is very annoying.

Settings

Settings are stored in a JSON file in

%LOCALAPPDATA%\HotspotManager.Settings.json

They can be changed there or by right clicking the icon in the tray and selecting "Settings"

Logging

Logs are stored in

%TEMP%\HotspotManager.log

It only logs errors and when the hotspot is started by the script right now.

Future updates:

I want to be able to distribute this as an exe and create/run the task from there. I don't think it'll be too hard, so hopefully that update is soon!

For Credit:

This is using A LOT of code found online. I can't find the exact snippets I used, so if I used yours and you would like to be credited here, please reach out to me!~
