Code of Conduct

Guidelines for a respectful and productive community.

Our Pledge

We as members, contributors, and maintainers of AstralEmu pledge to make participation in our project and community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

Our Standards

Positive behavior includes:

  • Using welcoming and inclusive language
  • Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
  • Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
  • Focusing on what is best for the community and the project
  • Showing empathy towards other community members

Unacceptable behavior includes:

  • Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
  • Public or private harassment
  • Publishing others' private information without explicit permission
  • Distributing pirated game ROMs, BIOS files, or any copyrighted content
  • Encouraging or assisting with piracy in any form
  • Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting

Anti-Piracy Policy

AstralEmu is an emulation platform, not a piracy tool. This project provides the software to run legally obtained games on supported hardware. Any discussion, link, or request related to pirated content (ROMs, BIOS dumps you do not own, circumvention of DRM) will result in immediate removal of the content and may lead to a ban.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies within all project spaces, including repositories, issues, pull requests, discussions, and any other communication channel managed by AstralEmu. It also applies when an individual is representing the project in public spaces.

Enforcement

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by opening a discussion in the Community or contacting a maintainer directly. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly.

Maintainers have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, issues, and other contributions that are not aligned with this Code of Conduct, and to temporarily or permanently ban any contributor for behaviors they deem inappropriate, threatening, or harmful.

Attribution

This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1.
