Tested locally on this branch (npm install + npm run lint against current main + this bump):

eslint-plugin-react@7.37.5 is pulled in transitively by eslint-config-next@16.2.4 and explicitly excludes ESLint 10 from its peer range.

Actual runtime crash on npm run lint:

TypeError: Error while loading rule 'react/display-name': contextOrFilename.getFilename is not a function
    at resolveBasedir (.../eslint-plugin-react/lib/util/version.js:31:100)

The plugin uses context.getFilename(), an ESLint API method that was removed/renamed in ESLint 10.

Other compat dimensions all check out:

• eslint-config-next@16.2.4 peer dep is eslint: ">=9.0.0" — open-ended, accepts 10.x ✅
• .nvmrc says Node 24; ESLint 10 requires ^20.19.0 || ^22.13.0 || >=24 ✅
• Project already uses eslint.config.mjs (flat config), which is what ESLint 10 requires ✅

What needs to happen for this to be mergeable:

Either:

• eslint-plugin-react ships a release with ESLint 10 in its peer range (latest is still 7.37.5; no plans visible upstream yet), or
• eslint-config-next updates its plugin pin to a future ESLint-10-compatible version, or
• We pin eslint-plugin-react ourselves via npm overrides once a compatible version exists

Leaving open as a reminder. Will revisit when the upstream situation changes.
