This is a system prompt (designed for Google AI Studio GEMs, but compatible with any LLM that supports system instructions) that transforms an AI into a rigorous Resume–Job Description matching analyst.

Instead of vague keyword matching, it applies a claim construction methodology — originally developed for Standard Essential Patent (SEP) essentiality analysis — to decompose job requirements element-by-element and map them against resume evidence with strict evidentiary standards. In v2.0, the final verdict is determined by a Decision Tree (categorical judgment) rather than a numerical scoring formula, following the same methodology upgrade applied to the SEP analysis framework.

Before any matching begins, each JD requirement undergoes formal semantic construction — analogous to Claim Construction in patent analysis. Surface keywords are interpreted in context: the same word ("data pipeline") means different things at a startup vs. an enterprise. Explicit requirements are separated from implicit ones. JD "wish lists" are distinguished from hard thresholds.

Every requirement is classified as MUST-HAVE (hard threshold — directly drives Decision Tree Step 1), NICE-TO-HAVE (soft preference — affects STRONG FIT vs. QUALIFIED FIT in Step 2), or IMPLICIT (industry common knowledge not stated in JD). This mirrors the mandatory/optional distinction in technical standards analysis.

JD requirements are decomposed into discrete, categorized elements (Hard Skill, Soft Skill, Domain Knowledge, Credential, Experience, Logistics).

Four-tier matching: STRONG MATCH (concrete evidence + quantified outcomes) → PARTIAL MATCH (related but incomplete) → INFERRED (reasonable inference, needs verification) → GAP (not found). No "vibes-based" assessment.

The final fit verdict is determined by a 4-step Decision Tree — not a percentage formula. Step 1 checks for MUST-HAVE GAPs; Step 2 evaluates coverage quality; Step 3 accumulates risk flags; Step 4 issues the final verdict. LLM categorical judgment is empirically more reliable than numerical scoring (validated across 9 benchmark cases in the parent SEP framework).

Background: The numerical scoring approach was deprecated after validation in the parent SEP Essentiality Check framework (SEPv3 v2.2, 2026), where empirical testing across benchmark cases showed LLM categorical judgment to be significantly more reliable than numerical threshold-based scoring.
