Releases: ClimateIndicator/forcing-timeseries
Indicators 2024 final
This is the snapshot of effective radiative forcing from 1750-2024 that is used in the revised submission of IGCC2024.
The update since v6.3.0 is to include the latest GHG concentrations updated from NOAA and AGAGE, remove some questionable data from the 2024 estimates of GHG concentrations, and update the equivalent emissions. The ERF is also updated to incorporate these changes, with very minor effects (no change in the best estimate ERF to 2 decimal places).
Indicators 2024 submission
This is the snapshot of effective radiative forcing from 1750-2024 that is used in the first submission of IGCC2024.
The update since v6.3.0-alpha is to include the latest GHG concentrations updated from NOAA and AGAGE.
CEDS CMIP7 version
This release updates the SLCF emissions time series using CEDS v2025.03.18 to 2023, and uses the CAMS dataset to extend to 2024.
CAMS and stratospheric water vapour fix
Updates since v6.3.0-alpha1:
- CAMS emissions dataset processed and used to extend CEDS from 2022 (very very small updates)
- fix for the stratospheric water vapour from methane oxidation, which wasn't zero in 1750
WMO pre-release
Updates since v6.3.0-alpha0:
- GHG concentrations updated, and 2024 best estimates from Xin Lan used explicitly
- volcanic stratospheric water vapour forcing from Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai taken from the Microwave Limb Sounder data to 2024 and run through radiative transfer model
- land use forcing used from LUH2-GCB2024
- irrigation forcing from global irrigated area
Preliminary 2024 Indicators ERF
This is a preliminary release of the effective radiative forcing dataset for 2024 relative to 1750. Many datasets have not been updated to 2024, and are based on extrapolations or estimates.
Inverse GHG emissions
This release is an update of v6.2.0 which updates the ERF estimate to 2023.
- A very minor bug in SLCF emissions was fixed.
- A dataset of minor GHG emissions based on inverted concentrations has been included.
IPCC AR6 WG1 forcing updated to 2023
This is the effective radiative forcing time series used in the Indicators of Global Climate Change 2023 paper (submitted to Earth System Science Data) for 1750-2023.
It is an update from the 1750-2019 time series that is used in IPCC AR6 WG1 (referred to as v6.0.0) and the 1750-2022 time series used in Forster et al. (2023) (referred to as v6.1.0).
IPCC AR6 WG1 forcing updated to 2022
This is the effective radiative forcing time series used in the Indicators of Global Climate Change 2022 paper (Forster et al. 2023) for 1750-2022.
It is an update from the 1750-2019 time series that is used in IPCC AR6 WG1 (referred to as v6.0.0).
