statusmon brings Pokemon training right inside your Claude Code statusline. It lets you enjoy a simple game while you work with Claude AI tools.
statusmon adds a fun Pokemon training game to your Claude Code interface. It shows Pokemon sprites and lets you interact with them. You can watch your Pokemon grow and develop as you use Claude Code. This makes your coding or writing sessions more interesting without needing extra apps.
This app works on Windows computers. It runs as a simple program, showing Pokemon in a small space. It uses data from a Pokemon API to display sprites and stats.
To run statusmon, you need a Windows PC with:
- Windows 10 or later
- At least 4 GB of RAM
- Around 100 MB of free disk space
- Internet connection for loading data and sprites
- A Claude Code environment (statusmon integrates with it)
If you don't have Claude Code yet, check its official site for installation.
Follow these steps to get statusmon running on your Windows computer.

This link takes you to the GitHub repository where you can get the latest version.
On the GitHub page:
- Click the "Releases" section on the right side or scroll down to the "Releases" tab.
- Look for the newest version (it will have the highest number).
- Under the release, find the Windows installer file. Files usually end with
.exe.
- Click on the
.exefile to download it. - Save it somewhere easy to find, like your Desktop or Downloads folder.
- Double-click the downloaded
.exefile. - Follow the setup prompts. You can accept the default settings.
- The installation takes just a few minutes.
- After installation finishes, you will find the statusmon icon on your Desktop or in the Start menu.
- Click it to open the program.
statusmon works best when connected to a Claude Code session. If Claude Code is open, statusmon will detect it automatically. You can start training your Pokemon inside the Claude Code statusline.
Once running, statusmon shows a small Pokemon sprite in your Claude Code status bar. You train your Pokemon by completing coding or writing tasks. The more you work, the stronger your Pokemon becomes.
- The statusline updates to show your Pokemon's level.
- You can click the Pokemon sprite to see more stats.
- New Pokemon types may appear as you progress.
No commands or coding is needed to enjoy the game. The app runs quietly in the background while you work.
If statusmon does not start or connect to Claude Code:
- Make sure Claude Code is running.
- Check your internet connection.
- Restart statusmon and Claude Code.
- Ensure Windows is up to date.
- If issues persist, check GitHub “Issues” tab for help from the community.
To get new features or fixes, repeat the download steps to get the latest release. Running the new installer will replace the old version without deleting your saved data.
You can change some settings inside the app:
- Choose different Pokemon themes
- Turn on or off sound effects
- Adjust the size of the statusline icon
These settings are found in the options menu inside statusmon.
