Read-only devices don't get their previous values (need to fix that.) This commit sets them to a default value.

When using the simple backend, devices that take a while before returning a value would show up as blank in the app because the app doesn't yet know how to display the field's data. This PR sets some drivers' fields to a default value on start-up.
