UP AND RUNNING WITH GIT AND GITHUB

A practical workshop organised by Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors to learn how to collaborate with Git and Github.

Pre-workshop exercise

Please complete the following before Saturday, the 21st of January.

  1. Install Git on your computer. Find the links below to install Git on different platform:

    a. Windows

    b. Linux (should already be available on Linux)

    c. Mac (should also already be available on Mac)

  2. Create a Github account using this url: https://github.com/join. You should see the following screen after you successfully created a Github account.

What you will learn

  1. How to fork and clone a Github repo
  2. How to stage and commit files
  3. How to push files from your local system to Github
  4. How to handle merge conflicts
  5. How to publish a website on Github as a static web app

What you need to bring

  1. A source of internet so you can push code from your local machine to Github
  2. Water so you don't get dehydrated
  3. An extension so you can plug your laptop to electric power

Where's the venue?

The workshop is holding at EEE lecture hall 2 in SEET complex, FUTO. Do well to come early (10 am)

Absolutely! Drag your friends that are into tech so they can come and learn, connect, and grow

Of course. Why learn a practical skill like Github without any proof? Lol.
