It's OK to have multiple commit in the same PR, no problem at all !
As long as you create the PR only when it's ready to be merged.
If you want to create a PR and keep adding commits to it, you can use the draft feature of github
The reason why the duplicate commits show up is because we use squash merge. The easiest way to avoid it would be to delete your fork and make a new fork after a merge. But because we squash merge, the duplicate commits don't really matter, so you don't need to worry about it.
