Recent sequencing studies of normal tissues reveal cancer driver mutations alone are likely insufficient to drive tumorigenesis. The study investigated if mutations cooperate with other genomic alterations, such as copy number variations (CNVs), in the development and progression of cancer. We looked at the synergistic effects of co-occurring driver mutations and CNVs in 93,462 cases across 32 cancer types.
