to review, run a dev instance and look at the wall display, then your browser's "network" tab to see requests are pinged off every minute. you should see about 4 polls of the beam status in between as that is refreshed every 15s rather than 60.
note that this clears the interval as per #82 so we shouldn't affect memory footprint.
