CARIS stands for Chat Automatically Responding Intelligent System. It's purpose is to run on Discord chat servers to serve as both a personality and a useful bot for the 604 Robotics team. Modularity for other teams may later be introduced.

CARIS utilizes a command-based system (similar to basically every other Discord Bot ever), but doesn't like it when you do so-- she likes to think that she has free will. In fact, she would much rather prefer that you talk to her instead of demanding things of her as though she is nothing more than a tool.

CARIS employs some amount of natural language processing (read: hundreds of if-statements and hours of beta testing) in order to emulate human emotions and conversational skills, and will sometimes jump into conversations as she sees fit. Unlike most humans, however, you can tone down the frequency at which she jumps in, the level of sassiness she communicates with, and a variety of other factors-- a feature that will most likely not, unfortunately, come with the other people in your chat.
