Overview

The System Readiness Manager (SRM) web application allows operations to remain abreast of the readiness state of the machine systems and their components.

Process

The readiness process runs continuously year round, but there are discrete stages in the lifecycle to capture the critical transition from Scheduled Accelerator Maintenance (SAM) to running. During this transition period the Hot Checkout (HCO) sub-process is followed. At the end of a run period, a forced re-check stage begins in which a carefully curated set of machine components are downgraded purposely as to prompt responsible groups to re-check.

Roles

  • Group Technician/Engineer: Verify readiness of assigned components and marks them as Checked.
  • Group Leader/Supervisor: Performs final readiness verification of assigned components and marks them as Ready.
  • Geographics Integrators: Area specific liaison responsible for collaborating with several Groups to ensure an area is ready
  • Management: Program Deputy, Operability, and Ops Dept. monitor and guide processes, including during daily meetings.
  • Operations: End-user of readiness tracking - make decisions on establishing beam in the machine based on readiness of beam destinations.

Organization

The machine components are placed together into a common System if they share the same verification checklist and the same set of responsible groups, roughly meaning, if they are of the same type. The set of Systems that make up the machine are further organized into a set of hierarchical categories, which provide additional taxonomy and allow hierarchical status reporting.

Signoff

Each component has an ordered list of one or more responsible groups. This list of assigned groups is determined based on the System the component belongs to. A Component is not fully ready until all responsible groups have verified and marked that the Component is Ready. The Signoff tab in the application is where Group staff perform the verifications. Each responsible group is encouraged to publish a checklist in SRM of what they're actually verifying when they indicate their component is Ready.

Reporting

The SRM Reports tab provides a set of reports that help track progress during HCO. These reports break down progress by Beam Destination, Responsible Group, and Readiness Status.
