HGCROC Setup

These notes are manually updated and are focused on outlining a procedure. They might not work immediately, but hopefully they are a good starting point.

Power, Establish Connection

  • establishing physical/electronic connection would ideally only happen once during setup
  • power to the ZCU can be confirmed by checking its lights and fan for operation
  • you probably need to reload the firmware after a power-on as well: sudo fw-loader load hcal-zcu102

Align ELinks

EXPERT.ELINKS.AUTO
  • aligns the elinks so data can be readout
  • only needs to be done once per power cycle of the HGCROC or loading of the firmware
  • must be done before the HGCROC is put into run mode so the trigger links are sending idle words instead of pedestals

Setup DAQ

DAQ.SETUP.STANDARD
ROC.RUNMODE # only needed for pflib v3.3.0 and before
  • sets up L1A capture delay and widths, defines fast control commands
  • informs HGCROC we are entering running mode and sets its L1OFFSET
  • needs to be done after a hard reset of the HGCROC (ROC.HARDRESET) or after the elinks are aligned
  • must be done before any data collection can be taken place
