Virtualization Migration Assessment (VMA) Workshop

Overview

This workshop enables technical customer-facing teams to confidently position and secure customer commitments for a Virtualization Migration Assessment (VMA).

Due to current market dynamics around VMware ownership changes, organizations are actively evaluating migration options. The VMA workshop helps teams guide customers from VMware-based infrastructure toward an OpenShift Virtualization approach.

Business Problem Statement

There is a strong market opportunity to support customers transitioning from VMware-based infrastructure to OpenShift-based virtualization.

A key challenge is that many technical sellers currently lack the confidence and practical framework to:

  • Position the VMA effectively
  • Address customer technical and business concerns
  • Secure commitment for the first migration step

Target Audience

  • Technical Sales / Presales
  • Business Consultants
  • Delivery Consultants

Prerequisites

  • OpenShift knowledge (DO180 level)
  • Basic understanding of OpenShift Virtualization
  • VMware knowledge

Workshop Goal

Build confidence and practical capability to identify, position, and execute a customer-facing Virtualization Migration Assessment.

Participants learn how to:

  • Understand the existing customer environment
  • Assess migration risks
  • Run an assessment from the customer side as a partner

Expected Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants can:

  • Identify and qualify opportunities for a VMA
  • Position the business and technical value of a VMA
  • Handle technical and business competitive situations
  • Decide when and where to involve ecosystem partners
  • Perform upfront technical discovery and risk assessment
  • Scope a proof of concept for OpenShift Virtualization
  • Communicate technical value during a virtualization roadshow
