argos is a technology stack for Simultaneous Time Attack tournaments. These are held at live speedrunning events where speedrunners compete with one another starting at the same time. This allows speedrunners to adapt to what their competitors are doing - because the goal is to finish your speedrun first and not to get a personal best or world record.

In order to make STA tournaments tenable to a general audience it is necessary to combine the individual speedruns together into attractive and informative combined views.

Example

This video from the first STA-focused event in November of 2022 demonstrates many of the original principles. Eight super mario bros. speedrunners competed in the any% category in-person. The consoles were attached to a computer running a primitive version of ARGOS that generated the output for TVs in the room and for the produced video.
