Scope of work done

Since the server/client mode requires all machines (not processes per machine) to sample the same node ids, the original approach here would mean that we have duplicated node ids in memory, which isn't ideal.

Doing this approach means that we only get one copy of the node ids in shared cpu memory, and we should save on some network bandwidth as well.
