The following refactors and changes are made ONLY for a better understanding of the codebase. Please DO NOT merge or attempt to create patches from this codebase - it's not expected to be stable, and I don't have an NVIDIA graphics card to use CUDA with. Instead, please use it for understanding the code a bit better! :)
