NRoD :: v0.5

Fifth, mostly debugging release of Near Risk of Death!

Features:

  • Monsters are now chance-based - if there are more than one entity in location to hunt, they can be given specific chance to be drawn, making some monsters rarer and others more frequent
  • Rat King, being miniboss found on Nomad Camp Road
  • Iron Armor and its heavy variant, being both improved armors
    • They served as testing entities for new moddable element system, as well as upcoming change in fighting mechanics

Balancing:

  • Since rats could be seen as easy cash, they were downgraded with rewards and slightly improved with statistics; existence of Rat King makes it also a bit more dangerous to hunt rats

Fixes & QoL:

  • ID changes for items and locations; if you are loading the game, expect finding yourself in default location instead of saved one
  • A lot of technical changes under the hood for upcoming system revamps

Fixes & QoL:

  • Fixed crash happening when you spammed "attack" button
  • Allowed to run new game after death
  • Improved performance slightly

    • Switched aesthetics from fantasy to post-apo

Old terminal-driven fantasy game called NimRoD (or NIMROD, Nimrod, from Nim old name).
Very basic and similar on premise to old Between Shadows and Light game of mine. Had moddable (hardcoded) system of beasts, locations and items.

Released as legacy version, new ones will differ.
