However, this project is not a simple cloud variable; it has a mechanism different from the original TW cloud variable (it can synchronize across communities safely and can automatically isolate different users' data without requiring developers to consider this, meaning that variables with the same name are completely isolated for different users). We will also gradually add localization.

If this extension communicates your IP address to servers subject to the jurisdiction of the Chinese government, you have lost my support.

If this is only available for use in China then it likely won't be merged, we have an international community that all want access to every extension on the gallery...

I am very sorry, but I seem to have not understood your meaning. You said it can only be used in China, but I don't seem to have imposed any restrictions on foreign IPs, and the privacy policy continues to be effective. Internationalization is also being gradually added, and we will be adding a global CDN in the future. I don't quite understand what you mean by "only available for use in China". If possible, please let us know.

If you have seen the ICP Filing at the bottom of the website, please do not worry about it. The ICP Filing is only for domestic purposes and does not mean that the website is under constant scrutiny by the Chinese government. If there are no violations, there will be no interference with the normal operation of the website. We are filing the record solely to speed up access in mainland China.

Why are you so fixated on issues with the Chinese government? I believe that any government, as long as it doesn't involve sensitive topics, would not pose a problem, and this is a programming community; you certainly wouldn't want it to become chaotic. In the vast majority of cases, we do not have the authority to disclose your IP address to the government. I think if you remember this is a programming community rather than a political one, you wouldn't have such concerns.

Everything is a sensitive topic if the CCP says it is, and who's there to stop them?

I repeat: China won't intervene too much on non-political topics. If you want to bring political topics into the programming community, I think this is not a wise decision.

That's what I thought, and even if the code is fine, I wouldn't merge something controversial enough to cause a debate in a GitHub conversation...

Are we good to close this?

I understand everyone's concerns about 'being associated with China', but there is a cognitive dissonance between 'technical tools' and 'political narratives':The core of the programming community is code/technology, not a battleground for public opinion— the Chinese government's logic for regulating purely technical platforms is 'ensuring compliance', not 'indiscriminate control'; legitimate commercial projects will not risk user data, as both legal and business logic prohibit it.This technological innovation of 'cross-community synchronisation and automatic data isolation' can genuinely help improve efficiency for everyone, which is the core value of Merge. Rejecting it due to 'label bias' would be a loss for the community.Regarding 'China first': the team has never restricted foreign IP, the privacy policy covers the globe, and we will accelerate internationalisation in the future (by adding CDN and multiple languages). This is a business choice of 'validating locally before going overseas', not 'exclusionary'.GitHub is a technical community, and the decision should return to 'whether the technology is of high quality' and 'whether it is useful for the community'— placing 'political concerns' above technological value is what harms the community. If there are still worries about the 'Chinese label', the team can also commit to: relocating servers overseas and implementing more thorough data isolation (though this will increase costs), but the 'technological value' itself should not be buried by 'unfounded political labels'.

Chill out dude we're not pulling the "We hate china" card. we're just saying this PR wouldn't be the best for our programming community. There's no need for this issue tracker to get political... We're not labeling you and it's not about politics. it's about what's best for our users.

I'm not concerned about you or your project being Chinese. I love global innovation, and if your extension did not communicate non-Chinese IP addresses to servers from China, I would not have an issue.

Providing servers in another place would certainly be a start if you want to get a future extension merged. Extensions from you that do not talk to other websites are much more likely to get accepted.

The author is no longer arguing for their side, so the controversy should calm down soon.
