This page is meant as a beginner-friendly introduction to the Playerbots module.
If you are new to AzerothCore + Playerbots, start here!
Playerbots come in different flavors depending on how they are created and used.
Here’s a simple breakdown:
- What they are: Your own characters (alts) turned into bots.
- How they work: You create a character on your account, then add it as a bot.
- Control: Full control over gear, talents, and progression (because it’s your character).
- Best for: Playing with your own alts as companions.
- What they are: Bots automatically generated by the server.
- How they work: They log in/out on their own, get gear and talents randomly, and roam the world.
- Control: Minimal — the AI decides most things.
- Best for: Populating the server, simulating a living world with “fake players”.
- What they are: Bots added by class (e.g. Warrior, Priest) via commands.
- How they work: You choose the class and number, the AI handles the rest.
- Control: Medium — you pick the roles, but not the details.
- Best for: Quickly building a dungeon/raid group with tank/healer/DPS balance.
| Type | Created by | Persistence | Player Control | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Altbots | Player | Permanent | High | Use your own alts as bots |
| Randombots | Server | Global | Low | Populate the world automatically |
| AddClassBots | Command | Session/group | Medium | Build a balanced party fast |
- Commands → Learn how to add/remove bots in-game.
- Configuration → Tune how many bots spawn, their behavior, etc.
- Addons → Explore extra modules like Multibot/Unbot for easier management.
💡 Tip: Start with Randombots to make your server feel alive, then add Altbots or AddClassBots when you want more control over your group.
