Supported Distros

Here's a list of the distros currently supported and some observations regarding them:

FULLY SUPPORTED DISTROS:

  • Debian
  • MX Linux
  • GoldendogLinux
  • Linuxmint LMDE

All distros that use Debian as upstream are fully supported. If you have a distro that uses debian kernels and repositories and wish to test it and report the results, open an issue and report your findings.

UBUNTU BASED DISTROS

  • Linuxmint
  • Ubuntu
  • ElementaryOS

These distros contain a kernel signed by canonical with a private key from Microsoft to enable secureboot. The program cannot use this signature. So a new goldendoglinux signature is generated for these distros, and it gives the user the ability to include this signature in the UEFI setup to enable this kernel to work with secureboot.

If the user does not want to do this, they can disable secureboot to boot with this kernel.

There is no other way around this. Secureboot only allows very few companies to sign the kernel. It's perfectly fine to boot with secureboot disabled anyway.

RHEL-BASED DISTROS

  • Fedora
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Rockylinux
  • Almalinux
  • Oracle Linux

These distros are not yet supported. It's in the plans.

ARCH-BASED DISTROS

  • Archlinux
  • CachyOS
  • Manjaro

These distros are not yet supported. It's in the plans.
